NICARAGUA - Retreat for Therapists

Retreat Description

Coming Home to Yourself retreats are designed especially for therapists and healers. These retreats offer the gift of time and space for your mind, body, and heart to pause and allow yourself to be cared for.

Everything is planned on your behalf so that your ‘parts’, who help make life run smoothly and care for others both personally and professionally, experience deep care and rest. My wish is for you to leave the retreat feeling a strong connection to your Self energy, re-energized, and aligned with what is most important to you.

To cultivate, deepen, and embody connection to your Self energy, during these retreats you will:

  • Move the body with gentle somatic yoga movements that will help to discharge and release energy that has accumulated from life, work, and responsibilities
  • Practice deep relaxation with guided meditations and Yoga Nidra
  • Have time to allow your energy body and nervous system to return to homeostasis
  • Practice breathing techniques that create inner space and relaxation
  • Experience quiet and openness in the schedule to go at a pace that feels natural and spacious
  • Be in nature and connect with the gifts of the earth above and below with sky gazing, hiking, swimming, and other activities that speak to you
  • Connect with ‘parts’ of yourself in meditation and with visualizations
  • Through journaling and partner dyads connect to what is most important to you and listen to what your ‘parts’ need you to hear
  • Reflect on what fuels your devotion to life both personally and professionally

These retreats are primarily experiential; they are intended to be restorative, nourishing, contemplative, and a gift to yourself.

It is not required to have yoga or meditation experience. All of the practices offered will have adaptations. It is required that you have IFS experience.

About

Verdad is a boutique beach hotel located on the Southern Pacific coastline of Nicaragua that overlooks a private secluded beach with breath-taking views. Verdad combines attentive and welcoming guest services in a secluded and serene setting where you are immersed in culture, surrounded by nature in complete laidback luxury.

One of the first things you will notice when you arrive at Verdad is the striking beauty. The surrounding tropical forest boasts a colorful array of flora, fauna and wildlife, and their hillside perch affords you striking, expansive views across the valley and out to the wide open sea.

Class Description

Each morning we will begin with a two hour practice that will incorporate relaxing movements and stretches, mindfulness meditation, and breathing practices. These classes are meant to be deeply nourishing that will leave you feeling embodied, grounded, and peaceful. IFS will be integrated into all of the practices and a deepening awareness of how ‘parts’ show up and can communicate through mindful awareness. We will move the body in ways that respond and honor our ‘parts’ from a somatic perspective.

In the afternoon we will gather for two hours for an afternoon session that will include IFS self-reflection, dyads, Yoga Nidra, and group sharing.

This retreat is perfect for you if you:

  • Wish for a week just for yourself to rest and have time
  • Long to care and connect with your body in an embodied and gentle approach
  • Love being surrounded by nature
  • Enjoy having time for solitude and reflection, but also connecting with peers and colleagues in a deep and meaningful way
  • Need time and space to integrate somatic practices that will support you in life both personally and professionally

WHY NICARAGUA ?

That’s a great question. For many years, I led retreats in Costa Rica. Over the years it has become much more populated, expensive, touristy, congested, and noisy.

When I think of a retreat, I imagine quiet, simple, and beautiful. When places start to become very popular, I like to start finding new locations that haven’t yet been discovered. I find those places to be special and pure.

Nicaragua is very similar to Costa Rica in it’s natural beauty and climate. My understanding is that the people, too, are lovely and warm.

Nicaragua is off the beaten path a bit and my experience with the American owner at Verdad has been exceptional and the reviews are outstanding.

Nicaragua has come a long way in the last several decades. It has become the safest country in the region, outdoing both Costa Rica and Panama on this front. Although this developing nation is one of the poorest in the Western hemisphere, it is a beautifully diverse and culturally rich country that is remarkably safe, with low crime rates.
